They provide academic instruction, typically leading to an academic degree, as well as initial military instruction, and often basic flight training (since prior flight experience before reaching the higher levels of the Imperial Academy system means better chances of being accepted for flight training). While they are not sources for commissioning under the central Imperial Academy system, they still have a place. They are the traditional schools of continents, worlds, or star systems which have been assigned a new role in the New Order. Presumably they advised each other on the most fun ways to kill lots of people at once.Throughout the Empire there are thousands of local military academies, often with histories dating back centuries or millennia. Byt the time the Yuuzhan Vong came to town, Durron led a group of pro-war Jedi and took on Jaina Solo as an apprentice. Owen tells Luke to keep watching that rock and to let him know if it goes anywhere.ĭespite the fact that he had literally killed millions of people, Luke let him off with a warning and made him a Jedi Master. He also blew up a bunch of Imperials, but they had it coming. Specifically, he destroyed Carida and its famous Academy. Together they beat up Luke Skywalker, and took the Sun Crusher to go crush some suns. With no other Jedi to learn from, he turned to the spirit of Exar Kun who was more than happy to train him. Clearly, he was the most talented student there, and quickly learned everything Luke could teach him. Since, obviously, he was super-powerful in the Force, Kyp went to Yavin IV to train at Luke Skywalker's Jedi Praxeum.

Not only did they escape, but Kyp gained access to a new superweapon- the Sun Crusher. The three of them ended up being taken prisoner by Admiral Daala.

Unfortunately, Han Solo and Chewbacca busted him out. This seems like a harsh punishment for a kid, but, in hindsight, was a good move. When he was about 8, Kyp was sentenced to a life sentence in the Spice mines of Kessel. Kyp Durron was a douchebag Jedi who killed lots of people, but none of them had names.
